Is the 6 lug pattern the same on all Chevy wheels or are the later 6 lugs different from the old ones? I guess the question is, up to what year model can I go and still have the same 6 lug pattern if I am looking for used wheels. THANKS!! Mitchell

| | | | | Joined: Jun 2000 Posts: 2,773 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2000 Posts: 2,773 | Chevy kept the same six lug pattern. The big thing you need to check is the back spacing. To check that lay a straightedge across the back of the wheel (not the tire) and measure to the mounting face. Check that to be sure the wheels and tires will clear fenders, tie rod ends and such.
The last few years they have made some changes with the center setup, and I am told the bolt pattern fits, but the aluminum wheels won't bolt up properly to the older trucks.

| | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | The bolt pattern is the same, however '88 and up have a different backspace due to the indepedent front suspension. They did that to center the alignment angles to the wheel for handling. For the older trucks, you should be able to use wheels from a '87 or earlier 4x4 without any problems. Watch out on aftermarket wheels that are 6 lug, some of them are for Japanese trucks, they have a different backspace and will rub.

Make sure if use a later wheel that your lug nuts are the proper size to secure the wheel. | | |
