So I've got the 2.5" wide rear leaf springs removed from my 1958 1 ton. I am removing rust and sanding them flat. I intend to lightly paint them before installation. My question is regarding the leaf spring liners that are sold (i.e. Chevy Duty has some).
The liner is only available in 2" wide, but I've got 2.5" wide leafs. Will this 1/2" of surface not in contact with the liner be a problem? There will be 20" less surface area contact between the two leaves with the 2" liner.
Anybody know of a 2.5" liner available? Any suggestions on an alternative liner?
Or should I sand them flat and put em back in the way they came from the factory? They survived bout 50 years and 100,000 miles that a way and will survive a few more the same way.
