I have 2 6 volt horns mounted on my truck. One is the original - other is a Klaxon add on. Neither one is connected to a relay. One local fellow says that all old horns should have a relay between the battery and switch. Why so?

A relay should be used to carry the amps to the horn (or anything that draws high amps). You can use a lighter wire as your signal from the horn button to the relay.A Standard brand three terminal horn relay works well.

Stop light wire. Because you really shouldn't be lighting up anyway.

Just be careful... Most FLAPS don't carry 6v relays. If you're running 12v, then don't sweat it.

12v relays DONT work on 6v systems.

6v relays can be VERY expensive.

Can you guys clear this up for me, does the wire from the button go to the relay then the 2 horns also connect to the relay on independent tabs. I am about 80% done with the rewire on my 46 and this is one of the things I haven't finished.
Thanks
