Just picked up a new 47 3/4 ton first series truck

I plan on dropping in a 235 I have and start driving it!

Does anyone know if the rear fenders for this are the same as the 47 panel?

Also, if I need to replace the wiring harnes should I buy a 46 harness?

Looks good. Are you sure that's a 3/4-ton? It looks like a 1-ton bed.

I believe the single-unit body fenders are narrower than the pickup fenders.

Yes on the '46 harness. As far as Chevy was/is concerned, there is no such thing as '47 first and second series. Though trucks that many call '47 first series may have been built in '47 and titled as '47's, they're still '46 models. All '47's are AD's.

We could compare your bed dimensions and springs to my '41 3/4 ton

I agree with Xram, looks like a 1 ton, check out the size of the front fenders, too.

Looking at the wheel holes on the front fenders and the length of the box, I'd have to agree with the assessment of a 1 ton. What's the VIN? That'll solve this conundrum one and for all.

It's in very good shape, whatever the size.

I'm picking it up tomorrow. So I'll have more pics and details.

I thought the bed looked odd. That was why I was wondering about the rear fenders. Hope it won't be too tough find a new set.

Nice score. Not many one ton's around. Alot of guys looking for rear fenders and not enough to go around, so they're available, but usually, but not always, expensive. Intermediate drive shaft with carrier bearing, big brake drums, shoes and bearings. Big king pins. Parts can be harder to find but on the other hand, not as many guys looking for them on ebay. Good Luck.

So it's a 1 ton. Check out the new Pics

Good news is it had the fenders with it.

Bad news is it has more rot that I expected.

Does anyone know if a 45 GMC 1 1/2 ton parts are the same on Chevy 1 ton? I'm hoping the front fenders match.

The VIN is 6 DSD 1656

I tried the vin cruncher but it ony came up with being made in Oakland.

Any idea on how to break down this VIN?

The one ton is a rare truck. Most people have never seen a bed and tailgate like that.
A Chevrolet Master Parts Manual shows DS as the designation for a one ton with a 134 1/2 inch wheelbase, 1946, Second Design.
The 6 in your ID number is the designation for the Oakland Calif. manufacturing plant. I'm not sure about the second S in your ID #.
Here is some info on your truck.

Thanks

The last D probably means April and 1656 the number off of the line.

This is probably the last of the last Art Decco 1 tons made as the Advanced Design started rolling out in May. At least as far as I know.
