This upgrade started as a simple engine swap. 64Fleetside had just had his unfortunate incident with the 18 wheeler so I picked up his 230 to swap for my very tired 230.

A couple of days before the swap was to take place I went to back out of the driveway and a shifter fork broke in the transmission. So now I have an engine swap and a tranny rebuild.

Since I was going to have the truck gutted I thought...what better time to put in a new wiring harnes? So I picked up an EZWire 21 harness, dash insert and a new set of Dolphin "fishless" gauges.

Today I made the next to last connection on the wiring harness...the only thing left to do is hook up the dome light so I thought I would post a few pictures.

I like those gauges...Where did you get them and how much were they?

I got them from EZWiring when I bought my harness. The gauges were $195 and the dash insert was $140. The bezel was salvaged from a trashed oem gauge panel...just cleaned it up and gave it a good dose of Black Rustoleum High Gloss.

As soon as I get the tranny rebuilt and reinstalled I've been thinking about power steering so I'll start looking at the swap meets for mounts, etc. Future upgrades I want to do are disc brakes and paint of course. I've been delaying the body work / paint because I hate it, but once everything is mechanically sound I hope I'll be more motivated to do the body work.
