I have tried. The chevy and ford truck take offs have clearance issues. Stuff from the 70s, or made for the 70s will fit. For example I have a chrysler 8 lug spare rim. Follow the link in my post to see my 59. I got these standard steel chrome 16" wheels from a local tire shop. Just tell them what year your vehicle is. They clear by the tie rod ends by 1/2 inch with
no problems.
They are 16x6 and came of an early 90's dodge
1 ton van. I also have some 16x6.5 wheels off
an 86 GMC 3/4 ton and these do have clearance problems, so that 1/2 inch made a difference.
All of the wheels had a about a 1" positive offset. Also...the dodge and GMC wheels were
