Like most of us, I would like to keep the cost low, but not sacrifice any safety issues. thanks. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 275 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 275 | I put a disc brake coversion into my 59 and I'm very happy with it. Total it cost me under $200. I bought the kit from Chevy Duty and the rest of the parts I dug up in the junk yard like the rotors and the calipers.

You need to convert to a dual master cylinder for added saftey, in case you loose a wheel cylinder or break a line. You will also need to install a proportioning valve and reResidual valve to keep the pressure within specs between the drum and disk system. I have disk front and drum rear on my 41 and am very happy with the set up.
