on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 187 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 187 | Greetings folks,
I was rolling around under my truck earlier looking at my tranny and saw the following data:
12-8-55 NP C91171
OK...the nameplate on the driver side toe kick says the tranny is NP, so I know that means New Process. Am I correct in assuming "C91171 is the model number of the tranny? Where can I go (text book or URL) to get information on this specific transmission? Any tranny related info would be greatly appreciated!!!

They wont list it as a NP brand, you have to figure which picture in manual is yours. You may not like this part, BUT, ***** used that brand a lot. Maybe check with the **** boys at www.**** -trucks.com Use the dash and an S on trucks to work correctly. Probly blocked out here  I found I have a 66 big truck parts book the other day, not a manual. I've also got a manual for 71's if the same trans was used. I'll go look and see what they have on trannies. What is it you needed to know anyway?

12-8-55 NP C91171 I loaned out my 1963 shop manual to a friend and the 1960 shop manual I have sitting here doesnt have the info on the NP trannies... NEW Process was used by chevy and GMC at some point after 1960. hmm, not in the 61 supplement either. I dont have a 62 supplement but would expect to find the info you need in my 1963 shop manual... I will post here when I get it back (you may want to email me directly and remind me in a couple days though) | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 28 Member | | Member Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 28 | The 1960 shop manual listed the info on all tranny options for all size trucks C10-80...
However the 1963 shop manual doesnt. It does have a detailed repair section on the tranny and may be a good idea for you to invest in both a 1963 shop manual and the 1964 Shop manual supplement. | | |
