It was 3 years ago that I took it off and now I can't figure out how to put it back on again. I don't have power steering or AC. Am I right to assume that it hangs to the driver side? Othere than the slotted double adjuster bracket, there is an offset, bent bracket with two holes at the offset end and one hole at the other end. Where do I position this?

Thanks a bundle,

Rick

alt should mount off the drivers exhaust manifold on that offset bracket - the single hole on the slotted piece will fit on one of the waterpump mounting bolts, usually w/ a bolt that has a nut an inch from the end rather than a regular head - the bolt holds the pump, bracket fits on the threaded end left exposed, held on w/ a nut - the slotted part attaches to the top of the alt and is the adjustment to tension the belt

not great pics, but like this and like this

Thanks Bill,
It's hard to tell, but does your alt mount bracket have a 90 degree bend in it? All three of the holes in my bracket face the same way. Will it still mount on the driver's exhaust manifold?

On my '67 (alt only), there is a bolt that runs through the base of the alternator into the front of the driver's side exhaust manifold. The bracket on mine bolted to the water pump housing, but that bracket was not the original, so it looked a little funny, but functioned just fine.

Rick - you got the truck and parts in front of ya, only you can see if it'll work similar to the pics I posted!! I can't see what you have to suggest what might be missing or which direction anythig fits

need something to mount one ear of the alt to the manifold, and if you hang the alt up by the top adjusting [slotted] bracket, you should be able to hold bits and pieces between the bottom of it and the manifold and see what's what
