I bought a couple of those 4" peep mirrors that attach to the edge of the door. They're suppose to be universal but I can't for the life of me figure out how to make the right one hang down like the left one. They match each other exactly when they should be mirror images of each other. How do I change it!!!!!!!!!!!!

on the clamp part there should be a single phillips head screw,take it loose and turn the bracket.

I had the same problem on the right mirrior my 48 Chev. I couldn't get it adjusted properly and I did take it right apart and tried turning that phillips head screw and still couldn't get it right. what I ended up doing was bending the arm to make it go where it needed to. A word of advice put some lock tight on the screw that goes through the arm that holds the mirrior on. I was driving down the road and the mirrior fell off.

i ordered a set of those mirrors for my 61. You can flip the bracket around at the base of the mirror and then spin the arm. I sent them back because they looked dumb on my truck and for the life of me I could not make them so I could see behind me easily. They were so hard to aim that I finally took them off and sent them back. I exchanged them for the standard issue driver door mirror. I was disappointed because i had dreams of them looking really cool, but no dice. They look and work a lot better on the 67-72 trucks, my buddy has some. I think that they were designed with that truck in mind, not my 61. Oh well the stock mirror is good enough

You've discovered the problem with "universal" parts. They have many applications but rairly work well on any application.

I bought a set for my son's '67 C-10, but they definitely didn't hang right because of the slope of the front door edge. I then put them on my '67 Dodge D-100, which has a more vertical door edge, and though they are not absolutely perfect, they'll work fine.

Thanks. I tried that but it still doesn't hang the same way as the other one. I wonder if they are really universal.

So did the chrome crack and flake when you bent it? Good advice about the lock tight!

Yes. A problem. I tried putting them on the horizontal edge of the door but they're too far back. Also have the wing window frames to try and have to look through.

Ok. I'll try and flipping and spinning again. I have them mainly for looks and partly for blind spots, if I can get the passenger side mirror to work, that is.

man, I thought I was the only one going crazy with those things, bought 2 new ones at a swap meet a few months ago,, some one told me I also needed to pull the rubber seal back on the door to make them fit,, think I will just leave them off, I will just be bumping myself on them when the truck is in the garage anyway,,, I think they look good on ad trucks, I already have two of the regular type on it..............heck, I may take them to our swap meet Friday and give some one a deal, think I pay 18 bucks a piece for them...Fred

I think they look stupid on just about every 'stock' truck i've seen 'em on.. i've always just regarded 'em as being some 'snap on' bling bling for the rodder types.

Maybe i'm old school.. but I just don't think you can beat the look of the stock side mirror setup in the '47 thru '50 somthin' AD trucks.

But then again.. how functional can a 4" peep mirror be on a rattly old truck?

I get by pretty good with my 4 incher's,, I just make sure I look real good when I use them in traffic,, it does take some doing for sure...that corner window helps some too.

Yeah. Glad I'm not the only one, too. I actually bought them a few years ago, had the drivers side on for a while, then put them away when I changed to Jr. West Coast mirrors. Well, the Jr's have too big of a blind spot so I've gone back to the stock repro 5x7's. I think they look cool, but I wonder if they were ever a stock option at any time. I don't know........Good luck trying to unload them.

so are they the regular 4 inch round heads on the stock arms?

Yeah. They are kind of a paste-on to a stock truck. I may junk em eventually, but wanted to see if I could get them to work. they actually have less vibration on the Interstate than the stock one-armers.........

I believe so,, had painted ones previous and replaced them with chrome,,seemed to be several versions of them though,, one on each side,, they work pretty well,,Fred

Hmm....I got the truck from pop-in-law and he used jr. west coast which i'm sure weren't original. I wonder if originals were painted. I wonder if chrome/stainless came with the bright work option package on these trucks.

i had to install one of those glue on convex mirrors to make mine work. all i could see before was the weeds on the side of the road or the sky. i got the mirror at auto zone. ron

I have regular mirrors on both sides (chrome) but I also have a peep mirror on the drivers side and that's because I have a side mount spare tire. My understanding is that the peep was a popular add-on because it helps you see above the spare. I never heard them used as an 'instead of' a passenger side mirror.

Tip I got from someone here on the 'Bolt: Once you put the mirrors on, brush a little clear nailpolish on the screws. The mirrors may be stainless but not the screws and they rust up real fast and look like crap!

No. I wouldn't do it my self but I have seen rides that only have peeps. I could really use it on the passenger side for the blind spot. My spare is under the bed but I still could use it on the driver's side so I don't have to stick my head out the window.

I use peep mirrors on my 63. the drivers side works out real nice but its hard to get the passenger side aimed properly. i dont think they have that range of motion. i think they look great and believe it or not i get a lot of compliments on them. the drivers side eliminates the blind spot caused byt the small back window. and as for the screws rusting... yes. within a week here in humid texas they looked like crap! wish i had the tip to hit with the nail polish before hand... guess i could touch up the screws with some black polish... should look better than the rust

I've got a set on The Coupe... the drivers side is "ok", but the passengers side is pretty much worthless, except to fill the requirement to have a second mirror...

The do mess up the paint tho..

Do you have any pix of how you mounted the jr's? I have a new in box set of them and would like to use them, but can't fix them against the doors to work.

you guys don't know that there's left and right [bottom of page] peep mirrors for Chevys?

if you're getting the ones with the short curved arms ..... they were designed for 30's Fords whatcha get for wanting to look cool

and the only time they're really useful on the pass side is with a panel where you put a convex stickon mirror on them so you can see down beside the rear wheel
