For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 117 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 117 | My name is Dan. I live north of Seattle. I am about to get a '57 Chev 3100 short box pickup... It is pretty rough and doesn't run. It has the factory original 283 and the original rims and hubcaps, interior is rough, bed has about 5" of leaves and pine needles in it, so I think it's probably shot. This is the first truck I am attempting to restore. I will probably spend many nights here reading up a storm! My plan is to replace any panels that I can't fix, get the thing running well, and bolt on a newer front/rear suspension with disc brakes, oh yeagh, and probably throw a wheelbarrow full of 20's into it. Here's a link to the first ride I restored (still working on it, they're NEVER really "done" are they...) http://home.earthlink.net/~mrdanb Dano

I'm not sure how to go with my project yet. Napco lift 4x4, lowered with radical modification, stock, or ? Once I get the thing here, I will be able to dig in and figure out how some things work on it, then I will make a decision... I've been reading like crazy and there is just tons of cool info on this site! It's easy to navigate and everythings in order with no f-bombs on every other page! Me likey Dan

I am installing PDB with zinc coated slotted rotors...I had to cut some brake lines and swap fittings for the proportioning valve. I was tapping a fitting on and didn't notice that I split the tubing/line on the bracket down by the frame... now I get to replace the rear main brake line. Some days it just doesn't pay to chew out of the leather straps Dan
