Check the cable from the pull to the carb for kinks as there should be no sharp bends (the straighter the better). Check that your carb linkage is free with the cable detached. I understand the problem you have and the best solution that I can think of has already been suggested (some lubricant in the cable). I certainly don't want to detreact from that and hope you resolve your problem.
But I gotta tell ya that the topic of this thread is just plain funny.
