I looked everywhere for the Post New Topic "button".
I found it over there in the corner with the "sky hooks"!

Anyway, I recently bought a 67 SWB Chevy Pickup, which has a 350 w/350 Turbo. The drive train seems to be very good, lots of power.

Although the body and interior need paint etc., they are both in pretty decent shape. Very little rust in the body at all.

I bought the truck on a whim, as a suggestion from a very good friend of mine, who is a professional mechanic.

To let you know in advance, I know absolutely nothing about automobiles, which brings me here.

Anyway, when I first tried to drive the truck it had a dead battery, which I replaced, and the power steering pump is blowing fluid faster than I can put it in. I've driven it all of 5 miles so far.

Plus, even with PS fluid, it drives like it's dancing on ice even on dry pavement.

So, My mechanic friend has it at his shop until he can diagnose and fix the steering problems.

I'm very antsy to get this truck on the road and drive it.

Being an absolute novice at truck restoration, I thought this forum might be a really good place to learn. I've had on heckuva time trying to find information about a 67 Chevy Pickup in the Search Engines.

So, my name is Davey, I've got a truck, and as soon as my mechanic gets it back to me, I'll take some pictures and post them, if that is allowed here (if not I'll set up my own web site), and add pics as I hopefully progress with this project. I know im gonna need a lot of help!

Now, I can scout around a bit in some of the other sections in here and see what's going on.

Welcome Davey! Im not an expert on 67-68. But I will tell you this. The 67-68 chevy trucks were a 2 year design meaning they shared the same grills front clip etc. The early 67s had a small window and mid-year I believe they went to a big window. This bigger window continued through the 72 model year. It not only looked better youo could see out of it better. Grab a trucks or Classic trucks mag off the shelf and check the adds. There is plenty of replacement parts and body panels out their for your truck. Just start ording catalogs and you can see whats availible for the 67-68 model years. Your year truck is getting very popular because alot of guys put the front clip of 67-68s on 69-72 model trucks. The cab back is the same as yours I believe. It just so happens that this truck does have the big window in the back of the cab, and it came with factory air when purchased. Of course since the V-8 was put in, lots of the original A/C parts have disappeared, and my guy tells me what's left would also have to be replaced if I ever wanted the A/C to work. That's a long way down the road.

I don't have the kind of money it would take to get this truck to "show quality", but I do believe, in a fairly small amount of time I can get it looking decent, provided the drive train is as intact as it seems to be.

I'll look into finding catalogs for the replacement parts, DUH??? I've been looking and can't find those. Any help is appreciated in that area. Send me a PM with any thoughts you care to share.

The body is in really decent condition. Someone has worked on it quite a bit trying to get it ready for paint, but it still needs a bit of work.

The bed is in pretty good condition. No dents, believe it or not.

No bumpers or grille, and it came with trim, but that's not there. Might have to cover up the holes on the body on this one.

I bought this truck 3 weeks ago, and my mechanic has had it in his possession the whole time, so I haven't really had much time to even look at it.

I hope for it to be a "work in progress" for me. I've always wanted to own a 55 Chevy, but I decided to settle for a 67 Chevy Truck.

I like trucks better than cars anyway!

You have come to the right place for good, solid advice...and a bit of jesting thrown in for good measure. The guys and gals here are the best .

The only advice I can give you is to get your truck back from the mechanic as soon as you can. You'll feel a lot better. I had no choice either but I was antsy all the time & had to go visit constantly. Stovebolt fever has no cure.

Sorry, I do have a bit of an imagination. Hope you all can tolerate that. But, I do like to have fun.

My mechanic told me this evening he'd let me know for sure by Saturday what needs to be done with the truck.

Hopefully that will happen.

I have to say that this truck looks like a bit of a "dump" truck. But I knew the first time that I sat in it and drove it that it is aomething special.

Call it a gut feeling if you will.

I managed to add a few more pics of what the truck looks like currently, and rearrange the main page a bit.

My Tech also told me he found something that he hadn't expected, which excited me a bit more.

The big back window was an option called a panaramic rear window.(not sure of the spelling)Mine has this option also. It was made standard in 1968. Good luck, Chris
