on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jul 2002 Posts: 358 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2002 Posts: 358 | I'm looking for a reproduction stamped steel valve cover for a 216 or early 235 (held on with 2 nuts).
I've seen chromed ones on Ebay for 30$ but I'd rather buy plain steel if I could.
Also, when installing an early cover on later (4 bolt head), where do the 2 studs actually bolt into the head?
Any input?

Coarse threads hold down the rocker down while the other end has the fine thread for the acorn nut. You need them off another motor or buy them from a vendor. I'm making plans to get away from that look. I thought you would cast one for yourself.

[/QB] I thought about it but, (and it's a personal preference) I'm going for CONTRAST with a deep maroon color for the engine, and polished aluminum parts and polished stainless steel fasteners for accents. That's why I'm choosing the 216 cover, I like the 'stamped' details better... I think the aluminum valve covers are just TOO BIG an aluminum 'punch'? Even the side cover will be painted, but the fins and raised lettering will be polished (again: contrast) and the background of the '261' will receive copper leaf, to match the copper tubing (covering steel water lines) going to the heated intake, while the black matches surrounding steel parts: Darn, listen to me... That is not a drawing but a representation of what the cutting tools will do to the workpiece. I have to use print screen and the resolution degrades a lot. I'm not a craftsman like Rick though, the software does all the work. In the future I might have more ideas and time to make more of them. Who would this one suit? http://community.webshots.com/mypho...=2575229980023244788&security=QOUVko
