The one piece of chrome that I have (repro) has already started to rust after a couple of months  Someone more knowledgeable will come along soon. The bar has been raised on these chrome grills & the frame & back bars are powdercoated.They are nice but I can spot 'em a mile away.
If you want to rechrome your original grill ...you will have to pay the chrome man to disassemble the front bars from the grill frame [ unless you want to do it yourself ] & you will have to detail the rear grill bars.
You can take the easy way out & slap in that repo. grill that is cranked out in the orient or you can actually take the time & energy to restore the original iron.
Bottom line is....
