For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 6 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 6 | I have recently purchased a 49 3/4 ton Chev that came with the build sheet, factory quality check sheet and even the original battery warranty. This truck is a rust free, running driveable truck. I originally purchased it for the purpose of using it for parts for my 49 1/2 ton street rod project but after going to get it and finding out the condition it was in I wasn't sure if swapping parts was such a good idea. Does anyone out there have any idea what a truck with this kind of documentaion may be worth. I have attached a link so that you can see it. The surface rust is only that and there is no damage other than a few small dents anywhere on the truck yahoo photo page | | | | | Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,682 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,682 | From first glance, i'd guess the truck has had some body work, on the fenders.. that knocks it out of the "bone stock/unmolested" catagory.
It's a 3/4 ton, which sells better than the 1.5 or 2 tons, but not as well as the 1/2 tons.
It's a 3 window, which I personally prefer, but the 5 window cabs tend to be hotter sellers in that body style.
The original paperwork is cool, but not in display condition for show purposes.. I don't know that it would add any appreciable amount to the value of the truck.
In my neck of the woods, a truck like that in that condition would sell for between $600 and $1,000. Other markets were those trucks are hard to find (costal and high road salt areas) it would fetch more, but buyers often consider shipping costs when calculating the most they'd pay.
For instance, a truck like that in Indiana or Ohio might be worth $2500 or more.. but if they have to pay $1200 to get it shipped from Ontario to their driveway, they likely wouldn't pay more than $1300.
an idea is only stupid if you think about it rationally.

w/ that honkin big spring pack on the rear, and 17.5 wheels, it's really a 1T version of a 3/4, and would be one rough ride

Chevy truck price guide Not sure what their idea of Class 1 thru 5 is, tho.. altho i'd suspect "class 1" is dead mint and "class 5" is beat up and/or rusted.

What you see is actually surface rust from where the previous owner hand sanded the paint down and then used spray bomb primer on it. It is amazing how a picture can make you think there has been body work done. | | |
