As a Disable Viet Nam Vet for many years I knew better to put on a job application that I was even a Vet. It wasn't till the second Gulf War that I recieved my first thankyou for serving, And that and all others have been from current military servicemen, Who said they now appreciate what Viet Nam Vets Missed out on during their home comings. I am glad to see them so well recieved. I am just now learning to talk about my service. I presume many wounded will have the same challenges is adjusting. In many ways I prefer the jungles of combat rather than what they have to indure, door to door and road side bombs. Not sure I could have handled long deployments only to be redeployed again. And worse of all NO BEER. I guess it war has its own unique hardships, and life long pain. Though I'm a Vietnam Era veteran I never did experience the-- uh, unfriendlyness that you and others did. Perhaps because I was stateside my entire tour of draft duty.
I'd especially like to thank those serving today. Certainly not a job I'd wish on anyone, but one that certainly needs to be done.
Think back 50 or so years and then look at where the world is today. As the cigarette ad says, We've come a long way baby! Unfortunately we still have a long way to go.
Thanks men and women who have served and are serving.
Word hard, play harder, enjoy life!
