I've got a 66 K10. Picked her up as a faded restoration, so badly faded as to be a mechanical wreck.

I've finally restored her to the point of being a daily driver. I can park her and no oil drips, not from the knuckles, not from the pumpkins and not from the gear boxes. I've got all lubed shackles on the suspension working and the engine finally starts with the flick of the key. And I've finally secured the shop manuals with all the technical 4x4 info, including the Chevy Part Numbers - thank you Detroit Iron.

Gone through enough trials and tribulations that I figure I've become a know-how resource for dealing with these unique 4x4s. I know a bit about Rockwell xfer cases and Dyna 44 front ends, how to gear with taller tires or swaping ring/pinion gears in the pumpkins. And I've found sources for many of the hard to get running gear parts.

Back in '00 I joined this group in hopes of getting help on the old K10s. Found plenty of great advice for anything that crossed over from the C10s and I thank the guys for that, but for K10 specifics, not a lot of people had any first hand knowledge. So I'm going out on a limb and inviting any other 60s vintage Chevy/GMC 4x4 owners to hit me up with questions. If not through the list you can always catch me at [email protected] (for a short lifetime I raced a Kawasaki KDX 200, hence the moniker).

Cool.

do you have any pictures of your truck?

Two other sites you might want to hang around are: http://www.chevytalk.com - 60-66 trucks & http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com - covers '47-'98 trucks, has a 60-66 area and a 4x4 specific area.

I'm sure you'll come in handy to some peoples.

How did you succesfully change ring and pinions on both differentials? The Factory R&P's are numerically different from each other. 3.90 out back and 3.92 out front for my 61 K10. The higher ratio'ed trucks are similar in the unequal ratios front to back.
