It’s been a long time since I have posted or visited on this place, missed it quite a lot. For a while I had given up on my project due to insufficient funds and my dad not wanting to work on it with me. Well it's been on my back for a while and has decided I’m going to get my truck going. The problem is that in the area I live in, it’s rare to find 60-66 trucks for sale and even tougher to find a 60-63, but there is always a few 64-66's on the buy&sell. So my question is can the body of a 61 be placed on a 64 or newer frame. The reason is that the 63-66 frames have more customizing options for a lot cheaper price than the 60-62, and I would love to put a 2 or 3 inch drop all around, disc brakes and power steering on the truck. I love the 60-63 body’s with the wrap around windshield and I can get mine fixed easily enough so I am wondering if it is possible to put the 61 cab on a 64-66 frame. I posted a similar thread called Frame Swap to do the same thing with my 62. If it is a standard you will want to consider getting the stuff to do away with the hydraulic clutch to use a brake booster with the disk brakes. If you have a V8 you'll want to update the motor mounts to the side mounts. Also the frames differ where the radiator mounts. The newer frames get wider at the radiator and they are held by top and bottom brackets instead of the side flanges. I don't know yet about the actual cab mounts, but the Chevy Duty catalog lists different rubber bushings. You might have to cut and reuse your own cab mount brackets. I hope this helps.
