For about a year now they have been excellant, however, in the past few months things have drastically gone down hill.
In recent, I have been recieving more and more wrong parts, been given a hassle when trying to return them, been given the run around when I had asked why no one notified me about a problem getting my items shipped, and then why they ran a credit card number that i had specifically told them had been lost and had been replaced and they still decided to run that old number anyway. Then evan though I gave them my correct, "new" card number, the girl taking my number transposed the last four digits and when they tried to run the card it came back that they could not process the order.
To top that off, no one ever even took the time to simply call me and tell me what was going on,...both times!!
However, the ultimate had to be talking with the supposed "manager" there at Chevy duty and being repeatedly talked over, cut off and told that I ordered the wrong part (63-69) when I own a 1950 truck and only have a 47-54 catalouge and have only ever visited the 47-54 cataluge section of their online store!! Of course therehad been another time recently that another item of the wrong years had been sent, I guess that was my fault also somehow! Somehow I would know the part number for a completely different truck I don't even own!!
Right....
Of course after trying to ask why no one bothered to call or notify my somehow as to the trouble running my card number, and why I had to come up with a solution (not the manager) to get things done and sent out that pleased both myself (the customer) and her the manager, and why she insisted that "I" gave them the number of my card and gave them the "wrong" digits when just a inute before I talked to another girl there before being transferred to their manager and she had informed me of the problem with the digits that I at that time corrected them on,.....the rude and ignorant manager decided to hang up on me after she confirmed my shipping address! this will be the last time I ever do ANY business with them ever again!
I suppose that since I've orderd just about everything I need from them they now don't have to give me any sort of customer service!! | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | try the generous 'bolt sponser, American Classic , who've helpfully put this forum back online so you could complain about their competitors! I'll chime in for American Classic. I've never had a problem with them. Their prices are pretty good, too. | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 31 Junior Member | Junior Member Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 31 | hey, i've heard of them! I'll be sure to check them out the next time I need parts,...definitely!!! thanks!

Coal Town Kid - click 'links' at the top of the stovebolt page, and then 'parts' . or go look here: http://woogeroo.home.mindspring.com/autolinks/trucks/ctgparts.html Lots of places to choose from.. -W | | | | Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 531 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 531 | I've had mostly good experiences with CD until recently when I got a wrong rear pinion bearing from them recently and they insisted it was the right one. Only problem was it didn't fit. Duh.
It's the "shipping and handling" costs from all of them that irk me. | | | | Anonymous Unregistered | Anonymous Unregistered | I have never had a bad experience with Chevy Duty, Truck Stop or American Classic. hell, i am still waiting for almost a $100 buck refund or more for a front bed panel that was damaged in shipping! they picked it up via ups two weeks ago!! and it took ups (or chevy duty,..who knows at this point) two weeks to get their act together to pick up that damaged goods in the first place!

No, they obviously want to play games and i for one am not on board with that crap! | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 31 Junior Member | Junior Member Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 31 | Oh i've never had problems with CD either,....untill it came to having them actually have to go out of their way and give me some decent customer service and own up to royally blowing it when it came to accountability as to them messing up and not giving a crap even though i should now have stock in the company with all the cash i've given them! at this point i'm paying them for service i'm not recieving!
sure everything goes well if you have a $10 dollar item to return, but anything past that and suddenly the earth is thrown off its axis for them!

Truck Shop ticked me off for a bit but now is back on track. No problems with Chevy Duty in 10 years ??? Guess everbody has a problem with someone now and than . I had a few problems with AC a while back but it got fixed in time. Damaged/ lost stuff is a problem sometimes as its not the sellers fault. Sheet metal most times does not travel very well. Better to go to a show and pick it up or purchase it local. Sounds like you may have rattled there cage a bit and they really dont want to do bussiness with you. BUT $7.25
SORRY guys you just lost me business!!!!!!!!!

I've had really great experiences while dealing with them. | | | | Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 60 Member | Member Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 60 | On the other hand i was not happy with a 55 2nd bumper from LMC and was looking for just a little money back as it was still ok. Heck they sent me another and never did pick up the first one. 2 for the price of one. Also remember on small purchases it costs them 2 to 3 % just to sell it to you with a credit card. Some places have a min shipping,i know my min for e-bay is 10 bucks if its a 1 dollar sticker or a 20 mirrior. But i clearly state that. Some companys are crazy with there shipping. With fuel going up its only gonna get worse. Have to agree filling station has been great but slow. Now RBs is the one i have on my s list. Cost me $100 (plus about $60 import duty 'cos the good ol' British government charge it on the goods AND the shipping) but I was so impressed with the service that I hadn't the heart to complain!
Simon and Garfunkel were right, though; you've got to keep the customer satisfied!

Just ask for a manager if you are having difficulty. The guys on the phone aren't very helpful.

Each has their positive and negative points but I can say all of them have given me reasonably good service. CD usually does not have everyting in stock which means that the BO's cost me more shipping charges, but I always got what I ordered. Jim Carter was great on a used bench seat. Sent me one which sucked due to rust and spring damage. Sent me out another one for free including shipping and didn't want to other one back. | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 58 Member | Member Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 58 | Want to hear a good one about shipping, I bought a set of floor pans for my TF from the Truck Shop in Orange CA. The catalog stated that there was an oversize UPS charge for these items, The items that could have shipped in one box came in two boxes both with separate shipping costs and both with the oversize charge. Not to mention the old used boxes looked like they were from the local supermarket and the packing material was floor sweepings. I have been happy with all of my parts from them but the shipping and handling is from hungar. | | | | Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 66 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 66 | I would like to say that over the past few years CD has always taken very good care of me. They bent over backwards with my nightmare carb problems and always ship their items in a quick manner. Last Sat I picked up an inline fuel filter done via the 'net and it was in my hands in Ohio by Weds. Also there prices are usually the best. Also I like how you can track your UPS orders from their email. If memory serves I usually talk to a guy named Brad who has been a big help. I've not been impressed with their service on several ocasions, and have a couple times said never again.
I've not been impressed by their responses when I've had problems, and have always felt they wanted me to take blame for anything that wasn't perfect.
Currently LMC truck is my favorite because their service has always been great. Prices often seem a little higher, but on the small stuff I just don't care.
With LMC you have to have a printed catalog to order. The latest came in my mail today, and I'll probably order something just because.

I love American Classic. They have been honest to a fault in all of my dealings with them. I will be sending them more orders in the near future. Chevy Duty messed up my last order by claming to have shipped an item, which was not in the box. On a previous order CD shipped the wrong part. I called and complained about it. They sent out the big brown truck, and the part was returned to CD at no cost to me. A few days later the same wrong part was sent right back to me! I called and complained again, and they once again picked up the wrong part and sent the RIGHT part. This time they included an official Chevy Duty cap to make-up for their goofs. You guessed it the cap does not fit! I am glad that I am not the only one to have been the victim of CD's slow slide into oblivion. | | | | Joined: Nov 2003 Posts: 285 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2003 Posts: 285 | During the restoration of "Dusty", I used a number of vendors, but, without a doubt, Chevy Duty has been my primary supplier, AND will continue to be! They have provided me with quality parts at reasonable prices, on time! I have dealt mainly with Angie (X245), and she has provided me with EXCELLENT customer service (even recommended OTHER suppliers if CD was out of stock on an item)! Without a doubt, problems can happen with ANY vendor, and mistakes can be made BOTH by the person making the order, AND the vendor. Personally, my dealings with CD have been GREAT and I will continue to use them. | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 31 Junior Member | Junior Member Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 31 | Originally posted by dan-pa: Bad mouth all ya want, but ChevyDuty was giving ya a 10% discount last month on all parts. Is someone [censored] off?????????.Will the real joe blow step forward. Well there buddy, being that I am actually working on my truck these days and not sitting on my [censored] all the time on any forums (including this one) I must have missed that great offer from Chevy Duty,.... ..maybe that's the difference between you and I....you've got more time on your hands or something..... Right now I really could care less if they were offering a freee trip to the bahamas if you ordered with them. They screwed me over several times, and helped me three times, but when someone goes out of their way to insult your intelligence and insist that you the customer ordered the wrong part and tell you that its "your fault sir..." when you wouldn't even have any clue as to what the hell a part number for a 1960's chevy truck part even is when you have yourself a 1950 GMC along with passing the buck off on everything short of bad weather,...well my friend I think anyone with even a small amount of brain power would take their time, money and patroneage somewhere else! Unless of course you like having people bend you over and give it to you nice and hard,....personally I'm not fond of it buddy! You obviously love chevy duty,...good for you, knock yourself out, from the way you talk, you'd think the pages of your CD catalogue must be nice and sticky from all the excitement you have for them, but I'm not here to start fights, you obviously are. I posted so that people would not have to go through what I had to experience last week. To save some poor guy or gal from that to me, is worth having to put up with people like you with your idiotic, sophmoric [censored] contest posting! ....just my 2 cents, take it for what its worth,....I'm moving on, I suggest we all move on. I also have ordered from LMC and The Truckshop with good results, especially LMC. They, meaning LMC, did botch an order once. I ordered a complete gas tank relocation "kit" but only received the tank and straps. So I called and explained that I was missing the rest of the "kit". They sent me the complete "kit" and had me keep the first tank and straps for my troubles. The new kit was here in two days and everything else I've ever ordered is usually on my doorstep in no more than three. With that kind of service, they have earned my loyalty and patronage. Excellant people on here,....great to share with you guys and gals. take care, stay safe and keep at it,..whatever you're working on....and if everything is finished,...drive safe and keep the rubber side on the road!

| | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 47 Member | Member Joined: May 2001 Posts: 47 | Lets hear it once for Quality of parts. I have ordered from most vendors like most everyone else. Instead of bad mouthing a company I usually tell folks where I got the best quality on certain parts. I know a lot of the vendors get the repo parts from the same place but they each have their on mark up priority or greed. I would rather save for an extra month and get GOOD stuff than the [censored] Tiawan crap. Some of it is plain pitiful. So pass the word on quality fenders, fiberglass, tailights, etc etc. If they don't get the business they also don't get the message. WE are the consumers and WE can make a difference. Let them know it. I will put a plug in for American Classic. The stuff I have gotten from them has lasted VERY well. OK, I have had my say. | | |
