Who is a good shipping company or what should I do? Thanks! | | | | Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 5,708 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 5,708 | PJ, If the customer is paying for shipping, tell him to refinance his house!

Never hold your farts in. They travel up your spine and into your brain...that is where crappy ideas come from.

I couldn't get a $250 bid for a '59 cab with the original windsheild in it AND doors, grill, fenders, engine and trans because the freight would have been crazy high.
Most transport outfits for vehicles won't pick something up unless you can roll it on and off.. a cab would probably require a flatbed.
If the cab will fit in the back of a tractor trailor, and you have a forklift to put it on with, that would probably be the least expensive method of shipping, short of finding a private individual who just happens to be going that way empty to do it.
Check that Yesterdays Tractor message board.. I hear they have a section of their board just for lining up shipping vehicles and tractors.
an idea is only stupid if you think about it rationally.

Call a local carrier and ask what class it would be (maybe class 70??). Give them the overall crate dimensions and weight (with crate). If you buyer picks it up from the depot on his end, he should be able to get a reasonable shipping rate. | | | | Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 18 Member | Member Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 18 | Thanks, I do have the skid that it came on. I'm sure it'll be expensive. Any other ideas are always welcome! | | | | Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 18 Member | Member Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 18 | New question: My cab is now on ebay and of course folks are wanting it shipped. They don't know what they've got themselves into. Does anyone know (i'm at work) what the dimensions/weight would be for a '64 large window cab, stripped bare with no doors or glass? Thanks. A ballpark figure would work. | | |
