Does anyone know if any aftermarket rims are available in 6-lug X 16.5" to fit our 56-1/2 ton? We just accquired a really nice set of 16.5" tires and Jr wants the truck "UP" a bit anyway.

For instance, a 7.00/15 tube-type tire will have a same-height equivalent in a 16.5 tubeless with a tapered bead, which requires a special-shape wheel. The overall height of the two tires will be the same, so they could be used interchangeably. Other, similar interchanges would be 10.00/20 and 11-22.5, and 11.00-22 and 12-24.5, I believe. These tires were designed that way to give commercial truckers the ability to run tube-type and tubeless tires on the same axle, without overall height issues.
The only time I've been able to find 16.5" wheels available have been for 8-lug applications, like 3/4 or 1-ton axles. 6-lug 16.5" wheels would probably have to be a special-order item from one of the custom wheel builders.

| | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 926 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 926 | I used to have a pair of 'em with 9.50R16.5's that I ran whenever I pulled my 35 foot 5th wheel Rv trailer. They rode a little rougher than the 235/75R-15's,but,with the much stiffer sidewalls,they handled the trailer like a dream-even at 85 mph. I've seen them on occasion in wrecking yards,there's still some out there. Mine had the early style centers,used the 50's style hubcaps.They were very heavy wheels,but that meant they don't bend-mine were so true I zero balanced each one with less than an ounce of weight.
Have you checked any wheel/hubcap shops,or e-bay?
Used to be,J.C.Whitney carried 'em,for about 50 bucks each. you might check them out too-there's a toll free # you can call to ask about products you don't see in their catalog.
