| | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,953 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,953 | Went looking for radial tires for my 49 and found Bridgestone 215/85/16 selling for $180 each plus mounting, valves and balancing and of course 15% sales tax! All Canadian dollars. That will equate to around $1000 by the time I am back on the road. I think for a truck that runs about 2000 miles per year it is a bit pricey. The tires are also 10 ply and I am wondering how stiff a ride that would give me especially when I carry very little or nothing in the box. Anyone have any ideas on less expensive rubber and something with fewer plys.

These are BF Goodrich Radial Commercial Truck tires, load range D, 8-pli, they are tall, skinny and the ride is unbeatable. [img] http://www.kinemation.com/Trucks/gmc100/frontenddone.jpg[/img] These are LT215-85R16's running at 35 psi - they are rated to 60 psi, but too bouncy at that pressure. Costco is typically about 20 - 30 percent cheaper than the same tires at other stores.
