The casting numbers on the block says it is a 235 from 42 to 46. A friend told me it is a low pressure 235, that came out in '41. I am trying to sell it, but don't know what it really is. #18783 12/27/2004 6:04 PM | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 | Right behind the starter on the block is the casting date. If there is a kidney bean shaped cover held on by three screws half way back on the drivers side it is a splash engine.
Any 235 from 1941-53 except 53 Power Glide cars will be splash engines.

#18785 12/28/2004 1:54 AM | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 | 216s and early 235s used dippers that scooped oil to lube the rod bearings ie splash or low pressure engine.
You need to go by casting number or measure the bore to know if it is a 216 or 235.
235 blocks are 1/8" taller than 216s also.
