Are there any motor mount or front clip kits that will let me swap a Pontiac 400 V8 and TH400 tranny into a '54 Bel-Air?

What rear axle should I look for to fit? Can I re-use the stock shock mount locations on the body?

Do I have to change the steering column or totally cut the crossmember out? What are my options for changing master cylinders?

Basically, does anybody have a swap like this documented anywhere?

chip

Gosh Rev. are you talkin about the engine in your blue car? If so you sure have gone through allot with that engine (blood, sweat and tears, cash and time). Most of us here know what you went through with that thing. Well I guess sometimes yah just gotta cut and run. Anyway I hope you have better luck with this venture!
Adios, Kip

Chip-first, a question, if I may. How similar is your Poncho (in relation to the motor mounts) to a SBC? If they're a similar distance center to center (across the motor) just pick up a set of bolt in frame mounts (RB's Obsolete comes to mind) and use them with the insulator mounts which bolt to the engine from a 400 equipped Firebird.

The tranny crossmember should be available as a direct bolt in, as well (try the same source). Your car has a bellhousing mounted trans crossmember? That'll have to go as well. Check your oil pan clearances...I think I remember reading somewhere that those original "Rube Goldberg" knee action IFS steering linkages may cause some headaches.

GO FOR IT!! We're all pullin' for ya Chip, praying for a happy end to this story.

Regards,
Wannabe smile
