The late 1990's before they started making them look like dodges with the hood hump and the fenders.

The dodges look fine since they went all the way but GM only did it halfway... plus they started amkign the front look like the avalanche which I think is about as attractive as warmed over dog mess.

They aren't trying to sell it to me anyway. smile

I think 72, the plastic dash, key on the column,& square body in 73 just kinda killed style. My 2 cents. Brian

1980. They sloped the hood down to improve aerodynamics in 1981; didn't like the look at all. I believe 1980 was the last year for round headlights too (although the ugly square ones were an option then). The 67 to 72 years rule as the most stylish.

I say 1959. That is the last year they looked like trucks from the front.

Last year Chevy made a good looking truck?

1950!

It was all down hill after the vent windows were introduced. smile

... altho I do kinda prefer the push button door handles to the "refridgerator door handles".. but not enough to sacrafice valuable arm rest space!

Hands down the best looking trucks were the 1939-1940 models. Nothing else even comes close..IMHO ;-)

The best stopped in early 55, but they are acceptable up to 1959! The new SSR is a joke, ha ha.

72 was the last of the decent looking chevy trucks. The best were from the 30's.

I think the last year for good looking trucks was 72. The best looking ones are 55-II & 56.

'47-'66. I loved the old "fat fenders" up to '55.1 (I used to own a '49 panel). The lines on the '55.2-'59 I think are appealing. But, ya gotta love all the facets & lines on the '60-'66 panels!! There's alot to look at. With the right "rake", they look pretty darn mean!

This is about as easy to get a consensus to as the ol' Ginger or MaryAnn question.

For me, it was the '60 model because it was the first year to get away from the "fat" fenders". The '66 model was the last year to have any heavy curves. Those are my best because it was a heavy transistional (sp) phase. for the Chevy/GMc line.

it is most definately the 1960 to 1963 style with the wrap around front window and the backward angled posts...I love allt the chev's and GMC's from 1960 to 1966 but the earlier cab stlye is better in my opinion.

The last decent looking pickups (imho)were '69 and '79. But my personal favorites are the Art Decos ('41-'46).

The 67 - 72 are the best looking no matter what trim package they had, long or short bed and step or fleetside. Although I do have to say the 67 - 72 with a 88 - 99 or so short step side bed look even better.

Mary Ann.. without a doubt.

'41 thru '50 are my absolute favorite years.. I used to be really hung up strictly on the '41 thru '46.. but man, the more I look at my '50 you can't deny the cool factor of the late '47 thru 50 trucks.

Ginger was a skank.. i'd rather do Ms. Howell.

The last year for decent styling was '72. I personally like 55-72, but the earlier ones can be done up right too.

Chevy always had a nice looking truck, compaired to the other guys, until the last few years. They look like the grill and headlights were put in backwards. All other Chevy's had a strong rugged looking front profile but now they look like someone with their eyes crossed(headlight placement). I like my '56 and '72 but until this latest goof, Chevy year after year had the best looking truck, now the best looking new truck is a Ford (I say that with gritted teeth mind you).

Sorry Joker, I think they are ignoring you, but the question was a Chevy-GMC quection. Maybe someone will start another thread for trucks other than C&G, then I'd say '38 Studebaker Coupe-Express
