| | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 299 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 299 | I used to have doors with the push button outside, then I bought doors with handles that turn down to open the doors.The fellow that sold me the doors told me I would need new clasps to go with that year of door and gave them with the doors.Problem ,the doors fit great ,but the clasp screw holes do not line up with the originals.Did he give me the wrong parts and can I cut the ends off both sets and weld the original ends onto the new clasps in order to make this work?Any suggestions for my 53 1/2 ton AD? Thanks in advance.

So I figured everything else in them would be worn out too. The doors I found still had original paint and were mint including the chrome and glass.The price was also good ,$25.00 each,even the rubber seals around the doors and windows are excellent.The outside handles even still sit perfectly horizontal. It seemed like a slam dunk.Besides I had a set of stock finger gaurds for those type of doors and not the others.Also,I preferr just pulling the handle to open the door rather than pushing the button and then pulling, call me lazy. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,953 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,953 | KillerKnight - use whatever doors you want, its your truck! I have two trucks one set of each type of handles. They should be a direct bolt on replacement. My '51 had a '52 push-button door for years. The strikers mounted in the same place with no fuss. You may need to see about getting a set of used or repro strikers...

He spent big bucks on an older Benz convert from your area actually. To me it is more his style than an old truck is.
