Alright here it is. Tomorrow I am going to go look at a 1953 Chevy 5 window truck. It has little or no dents and the paint is just primer. It has a 327 and an automatic tranny with a tilt column. He claims it runs. The guy wants $4000 or so. Think this is a good deal? ty

I just paid $3500 for a '48 5 window that was driveable, but that's about it. It's going to take a lot more than a paint job to undo what's already been done. I'm thinkin' I overpaid....

Look it over good, primer hides a lot. I've been burnt before " just primered it to keep it from rusting " BE CAREFUL!!!!! If you have a weak magnet it will find thick spots of bondo.

i just got a sweet running 52 3/4 ton been in the woods 5 years new battery and points and it runs like a watch 1200. bucks needs a few windows and the front end is sloppy its got good brakes nice truck to drive as i work on im not going to tear it up got to have one thats a driver

If I absolutely HAD to put a V8 in one of my trucks, (which would pretty much require somebody putting a gun to my head) i'd go with the 327.

Years ago I had a '67 Impala SS with a 327 and she flew like the wind.. I imagine the '67 Impala was probably just as heavy (if not more so) than a '53.

"Good deals" are relative to your area.. for my area, thats a little on the high side, but what I pay $300 for, folks back East pay $2500.

I'd personally not pay $3500 for anything unless I can hop in it, turn the key, and putt on down the road in it.

yea I think your right about the price per area thing. There are about 4 AD trucks that I know of in my city. I had to knock on some doors to find out who owns the one im going to look at today. Im not planning on making it all original. So the v8 isnt a bad thing imo.
