Tomorrow I am going to go look at a 1953 Chevy 5 window truck. It has little or no dents and the paint is just primer. It has a 327 and an automatic tranny with a tilt column. He claims it runs. The guy wants $4000 or so. Think this is a good deal? ty

It's going to take a lot more than a paint job to undo what's already been done. I'm thinkin' I overpaid.... | | | | Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 23 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 23 | Look it over good, primer hides a lot. I've been burnt before " just primered it to keep it from rusting " BE CAREFUL!!!!! If you have a weak magnet it will find thick spots of bondo.

Years ago I had a '67 Impala SS with a 327 and she flew like the wind.. I imagine the '67 Impala was probably just as heavy (if not more so) than a '53.
"Good deals" are relative to your area.. for my area, thats a little on the high side, but what I pay $300 for, folks back East pay $2500.
I'd personally not pay $3500 for anything unless I can hop in it, turn the key, and putt on down the road in it.
an idea is only stupid if you think about it rationally.

There are about 4 AD trucks that I know of in my city. I had to knock on some doors to find out who owns the one im going to look at today. Im not planning on making it all original. So the v8 isnt a bad thing imo.
