I found a 68 C-50, has a small block, truck is a LCF so I can't get casting #'s(back of engine nearly against firewall), but stamped in front of pass head is FI207D. Anyone have a clue as to engine size? Brian

Aording to my Chilton repair manuals, a "D" suffix letter indicates the engine is a 1958-64 283 cubic inch. I don't have a letter designation in the truck manual that covers the 68 C-50, buit the 283 is not listed as an engine option for that year model.

Looking at a GM parts manual, the 327 was the standard V-8 for the C-50, besides the 292 6. The 68 truck 327 numbers starts with Y, in fact no truck small blocks from 56-70 start with an F.

Guess I'll get it, I can tell what it is after it is out. I would like a 327. It looks original, has draft tube, script valve covers, front mounting. Thanks, Brian

old post but i found a 68 c-50 or 60 that im debating on buying for 300 it runs good and new rockers but no bed and is real short wheelbase, it has the original 2 bbl 327 in it,

jut unsure if i need to get it or not, seems cheap but im just unsure

68 would be at least a 327 or better, 366, 427 truck deck, could be several different engines, but if its a sbc gas engine thne would be 327 factory, 68-up anyways

good luck

C50s also came with 292s. That's where the engine in my 1 ton came from (actually a 69 model).
