First I'll have to see if I can get up at 4am, then cross my fingers and see if the baby can make the 2 hr drive at 55mph. Plan to take it Sat. only. The most money hungry bunch of capitolists masqurading as hot rodders on the face of the planet. Not bad enough it's like $8 to park your truck but another $18 before you get in the door. Throw on a couple $4 beers..... If you want to display your ride, be prepared to sell the farm!Their making tons of money off both ends. Now they TOW YOU if you put a for sale sign on your ride while your in the parking lot ( remember you paid $8 to park there !) Let's get back to the roots of this hobby, there's alot of small meets around the bay where real car guys congregate. Support them. Thanks for letting me vent. Oh by the way do you want to know what I really think about this bunch.............

there are some nice cars, but if you've ever been to the pleasanton "show" you've already seen them. *yawn*
i recall seeing more interesting vehicles in the parking lot when you could hang a for sale sign without getting towed | | | | Joined: Jul 2003 Posts: 586 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2003 Posts: 586 | I admit that the GGs have made some mistakes in the past, but they are getting there act together. Besides, where else can you go and see well over 1,500 cars and trucks. I still thinks it's a good show. Your definitely right about the food, I'm bringing my own. Are you driving 101 through Morgan Hill? I live right off of Tennant. My truck wont be there, maybe some year.
$4 a beer not bad nowadays, What I do is I keep my money in my pocket and after the show I go buy a 6 pack and hang out with my truck. | | | | Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,682 Extreme Gabster | Extreme Gabster Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,682 | They tow your vehicle if it has a FOR SALE sign in it while it's parked?
They outta change their name from Good Guys to [expletive deleted] guys.
I'm all about a man making a living, and if a guy can rent a hall, and make some money charging at the door AND charging folks to display their trucks, more power to them.. hey, movie theatres have been giving you the rear ream with rocksalt lube on food prices for decades, so a $4 beer dosen't seem all that bad.
Breakin' your balls for putting a for sale sign in your trucks window while your checking out the "show" is BS, tho.
What? They want you to pay the big bucks to get an indoor spot if you've got something to sell? Or is it some sort of crackpot California law that prohibits putting For Sale signs in parked vehicles?
an idea is only stupid if you think about it rationally.

I was being sarcastic about the $4.00 a beer thing. If I want to drink beer I will do it at home and it will only cost me .50 cents a beer, and it will be ice cold. If my truck was in the show I would have a cooler full of them. What? They want you to pay the big bucks to get an indoor spot if you've got something to sell? Or is it some sort of crackpot California law that prohibits putting For Sale signs in parked vehicles? So their isnt a crackpot law in Nebraska governing "for sale cars" from parking all in the streets for days? I think every state has that law, no more than ?? hours | | | | Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,682 Extreme Gabster | Extreme Gabster Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,682 | Originally posted by Billybolt: So their isnt a crackpot law in Nebraska governing "for sale cars" from parking all in the streets for days? I think every state has that law, no more than ?? hours I've lived all over the Eastern United States as well as in the Midwest, and i've never heard of somebody getting their car towed away for having a FOR SALE sign in the window, or that it was against the law. In fact, in many of the places i've lived, it's not uncommon for folks to park their cars in the front of the local K-Mart or grocery store with a for sale sign in the window. I can't tell you how many times i've seen cars in parking lots or driving around with for sale signs in the windows. Most states have laws that dictate how many cars a private citizen is allowed to sell in a 12 month period (usually more than 2 or 3 requires a dealers licence) but parking a car at the supermarket or local Wal Mart while you shop with a FOR SALE sign in the window is going to get it towed? Thats nuts. I can totally understand if some dude pays the $8 to park and just leaves the car there for the weekend, but if he's going to check out the show and only leaves the car there while he's attending the show, whats the big deal if he has a FOR SALE sign in the window or a BABY ON BOARD sign?

Anyways lets see some cars and trucks at the car show.
Is anyone taking their bolt to Pleasanton Good Guys show? | | | | Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 81 Member | Member Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 81 | the (un)pleasanton fairgrounds are actually the ones prohibiting selling things in the parking lot. doesn't matter if it's a car or a hotdog. doesn't make much sense to tow a hotdog though | | | | Joined: Jul 2003 Posts: 586 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2003 Posts: 586 | BillyBolt, I have to go over highway 17 and then 680. At anyrate I will be there very early because I didn't preregister.
Fumblin46, I know what you mean about the for sale signs. I'm also taking my '63 Nova and putting it in the car coral. And, I'm taking my own lunch with a few Pepsi's. Their food is not to swift.
Baldredhead, you right about the GG prohibiting the selling things in the parking lot. You know why. They want people like me to pay GG's to sell in their car coral. Hope to see some of you there.
If you don't see me there it's because they had to tow one of my cars back home. Cecil..... | | |
