I have a 53 1/2 ton and three shops doing other work tell me to swap them out quick. My toolbox is the size of a small zip-lock bag but I don't want to pay someone else to do it. There's no fun in that. Any advice? | | |

The process isn't hard, but the diagrams really help. Also, read this tech tip . It isn't so hard to do as it is frustrating if the pins don't want to break loose.

I am sure you willl have more questions after doing a little reading here on the site. Do a search here on the `Bolt and do a little research at the library. First go put and clean all the rust and crud off the nuts and bolts you can find and spray them with penetrating oil(PB Blaster,, Kroil, even WD-40)to help things come apart after you have done some reading and familiarizing with the parts in question.
There is enough good in the worst of us and enough bad in the best of us that it does not behoove any of us to criticize the rest of us.

I read about it in one of the classic truck rags several months ago, now I can't find my copy. Would these work inf a 3/4T? Are they any good to begin with? Advice requested. Opinions accepted. Diatribes tolerated.

Current fleet (subject to change w/o notice) \'49 GMC 3/4-Ton , 60 Austin Healey Frog-eye Sprite (some assembly required), 2011 Dodge Avenger, 2015 Jeep Cherokee. No, they don't all run. My other ride is a (B737)no, (B767)no, A320.... Update... was Embraer E190, now Boeing B787. Knowledge is a wonderful thing, but ignorance means you don't know you can't do something.

About there reliability I dont' know, I replaced spindles only king pins and all was very good. Need any Ideas on how to replace king pins just e-mail me. It's quite a trip but fun!! popcorn The Truth is Out There (Been there did That) | | |
