Why not just give the cane away? Tough story but it's tough to take someone's money for a crappy junk cane.

People are throwing away some really big money on dumber things than this on EBay.
Sounds like the family is having some hard times, some folks out there seem to have more money than brains ("Hey, remember that ghost for sale on EBay?? I'm the one who bought it!!") and they want to feel good by doing something nice for somebody else and helping the kid (or so they think).
Hopefully, she'll take the money and pay down the mortagage, or pay off her credit cards or something else smart.
I wouldn't do it, but I don't have a problem with her doing it. Go for it, I say. If someone is dumb enough to offer her 14 grand for dad's cane and a good story, I say be smart enough to take it!

I didn't believe the stories I'd heard about the house before we bought. It's true we think because my wife & I can't come up with any other reason for the things we've seen & heard. They're not bad either, which makes the place easier to live in.

It was a good deal and a fairly rare car (only 6500 of them made.)
But it was haunted. I swear it was. Every time I'd fix something, it would cut me. Even something as simple as replacing a tail light lamp...it had to break and slice my fingers open. Then there was the dashboard/speedo cable nightmare. Two weeks to get the gauges going...and a significant amount of blood lost from the hands and arms. Same problems with the power window and door lock switches...and one window motor. Again, that car tried to slice my arms and hands to ribbons. I've still got a two-inch long scar on the back of my left hand from putting new plug wires in it.
I finally gave up and sold it for twice what I'd paid...although I'd really planned to do a complete restoration on it. I even drove it from Utah to Albuquerque to deliver it to the buyer. It was one car (and malevolent spirit) that I didn't mind getting rid of. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2001 Posts: 21 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2001 Posts: 21 | Ghost cane update.
