That is how a seller sucks you in. Putting the price in for 10.00 got your attention. There's lots of time left. The only advantage that you guys have, is that they listed it as a 302, and if your looking for a 270 you would miss it maybe wink Good luck!!

Hey! I'm bidding, I'm close (sorta). First bid went to $50 first try! frown Tried again and now it's where I'm at! Must be out of big truck with the filter on it like that. How do you folks know it's a 270? Wish I could see if it has double or triple pulleys on it. Should say size on stamping if I e'mailed seller, I guess. wink

Wait a minute!

Is that GL "I hate eBay" Perry bidding on that motor?

Hmmmmmmmm. Must be a love/hate relationship!

Hope one of "our" people get that motor. I have been drooling over and admiring all the 302s on Inliners site and they are pretty impressive.

Good luck GL. You'll hate eBay even more before this ones over! LOL

Looks like the harmonic balancer on the front is a single pulley and might be for a 7/8" belt. As you maybe noticed, the water pump is missing off the front. The valve cover has the hole just in front of the GMC logo for the PCV hookup and the oil filler just behind the filter has the oil bath filter for the PCV system. From the size of the filter housing I think your right about it coming out of a larger truck. The larger capacity filter was needed for such things as compressors and the larger hydromatics as the oil was run through these different components. Good candidate for a full flow conversion anyways smile

None of you guys can read. The guy added that he found out it is a 270 and he also mentions it did not come out of a truck but is mounted on a frame and it was originally for some industrial use.

Sorry 'bout that Tony. Guess I better go back to grade school and learn all that readin' stuff over again. I did't see the part in his description where "he also mentions it did not come out of a truck". That stand sure don't look like what it was monted in for the industrial use. Maybe it came out of an "industrial" truck?................hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. wink

It says:
"was used in industrial application and is mounted on a stand. Typical application would be GMC 2 1/2 ton military truck"

I guess it could be an industrial military truck. smile

I thought he meant, it is normally found in a truck, but this one was used in an industrial application.

I wrote guy and he says starts # with 270 and he ADDED the note later about size. The water pump and gen are laying in picture and he said all would go with, wasn't sure on pulleys, belts or fan, was gonna check. It's his brother's engine. I can't get on to check for sale process as ebay has shut-down for maintainance on early Fri mornings, Sheesh! That's when I'm on here, early AM!

GL, Don't have a COW. There still is 5 days left. You have to learn to have PATIENCE!! Besides, ebay was working at 5:45 this morning(FRIDAY) must be they didn't have too much maintainance to do. It will be there! You still are high bidder..... Mr. Ebay hater! 61.00 I hope you get it. Tony and I bought a 261 on ebay. Had a great time picking it up. You meet the nicest people. Good Luck!

I wonder what GL would pay to keep the rest of us 270 owners from bidding? grin wink

I really am in need of one, mine is in the shop and looks like the block will have to be stitched, ouch.

If the call comes from the shop in the near future I may have to go up against ya GL. No hard feelings smile

How much do I get in commission for the hookup. grin

Just kidding; but a few spare performance parts for the 292 I'm building would be nice. wink

Got it! Took all day, I'm tired! 225 miles up and 255 back a slower road as my truck was getting warm on the highway. Slow way was prettier too! I hate Interstates! His neighbor has an MM M-5 tractor, froze up but all there, Woopie! Might have to look into that. It's just a woman and been setting for long time in yard. Has a loader too, but looks homemade and wouldn't stay on it, for me anyway. NOW, to make offer and figure how to get IT home!!! frown
