Larry: Yeah...I put the bumpers on this past summer. the original ones were kinda rusted beyond repair. I'd painted them red...and they didn't look too bad...but I think the chrome is nicer.
Tony: No problem on the water. I'll be re-hydratin myself as often as possible. I've got an insulated jug that makes it kinda nice...as opposed to dehydration, which is definitely NOT nice. (been there and got the t-shirt when volunteering as a corner worker at sports car races many years ago.)
JH: I'll definitely be washin the salt out. I even sealed the underside (at least under the floor pans and rocker panels where I'd put patch panels with caulking. I had it out there in august and when I brought it home, I just sprayed the hell outta the underside. Worked pretty well.
And yeah, I'm kinda familiar with the "quicksalt"..both kinds actually. The kind that goes 400 mph and the kind ya sink in.
Here's a page with a pic of the lake we had to ford on the way to the course at last year's World Finals:
The not-so-Great Salt Lake It was a real mess out there for the whole week. Luckily I was drivin my wife's Blazer and didn't have any trouble with it. I hope the conditions are a little better this year. I sure don't wanna push that lowered nose thru foot-deep water...especially with hidden potholes...and a chest incision that's still healing.
