Canadian model numbers on AD trucks are different to american-made ones. I would like to find out what a Canadian 1430 is. it is bigger than a 3/4 ton and has big rear leaf springs with 17 inch wheels.

my guess is that it is a 1 ton, mine is a 1424 and its a 3/4 ton but if you have wheelbase measurements or inside box measurements that would help

iceberg, the truck belongs to a friend of a friend so the only thing I recall is the bed being 9 feet or so. thanks

Could be a one ton or a 3/4 ton with the long box, I've got one of the long boxes in my driveway ... one ton I think as it has real heavy duty springs.

My documentation from GM Canada indicate the model 1400 is a "pickup delivery". It does not idicate a 1430 model but has the following information:
Model 1424-
125 1/4 inch wheelbase; G.V.W. 5200-5800 lbs.
Model 1434-
137 inch wheelbase G.V.W. 5700-7000 lbs.

3/4 ton box is 87" 1 ton box is 108"

The 1430 is the Canadian model number for the 1 Ton. The GMC version would be a 9430 such as my own 1 Ton. If it has single wheels on the rear, the GVW will be somewhere around 5800 lbs but with the duals, it goes up to 8000 lbs. The wheel base should be 137". I have the complete chart for the model numbers if you want them.

It has single rear wheels but the 5800 pound GVW rings a bell. I have not seen the truck as it belongs to a friend of a friend. Thanks for the help.
