Rebuilding the brakes on my 53 3/4 ton. Got new brake spring kits. The two top return springs were identical to what was on my truck. The bottom return spring (the one that holds the bottom of the shoes tight against the star adjuster) was completely different. The original spring was 4" long, 5/8" O.D. The new spring is 3 1/4" long, 7/16" O.D.
I have two quick questions. First, which spring size is correct/original? Second, anybody know a source for the larger springs? I've already tried the largest brake supply house in the area. Next, I'm just going to go to the hardware store and look for a (close) match from their spring selection.
