Believe it or not, we agreed on $350, but once I saw it, I gave him the $500.

That yellow stripe has gotta go!

Well, now that is the deal of the year!

Would you like to double your money this weekend? I'll stop by with $1000 and take that yellow stripe, and the rest of the truck, off your hands!

How you Cajuns pull this hiway robbery off without any punative consequences is completely beyond me. grin grin Went ahead and gave him the $500, huh. What engine you got in that rig if you don't mind the question?

He offered it to ME for $350! I never knew he had it. It has been sitting a year with broke starter.

It's a bone stock Chebby 350 with TH350 tranny.

He thought the block was busted where the starter bolts on....Well, it's chipped at the outbord hole, but I'll just install studs vice bolts...The new starter was sitting on the seat!

The guy weighs 360lbs and never attempted to fix it or even look under it. Bought a new starter and had some guy crawl under it for him. The guy said the block was busted, so it has been sitting up. I bet this "guy" thought he would steal it from him by saying the engine block was toast.

One day last week it came up in conversation at work...Said he wanted it out of his yard, would take $350. So I jumped on it.

The bed boards and strips are completely gone....Piece of plywood there instead. No problem, that's my cabinet shop carport it's sitting under....And there is a sawmill right down the road. I found bed board dimensions on the net already. I figure oiled red oak will look good in there with stainless strips and bolts.

There are NO dents in the bed or tailgate. No rust anywhere except on bottom of brake master cylinder. One small dent on top of passenger side of hood that you can see in the first pic. All grill and trim is dent free. Slight surface rust on grill around headlights. One slight dent in pass side rear fender that was bondo'ed 1/16" You can see it in first pic too.

Dash pad is cracked and curled at ends. Factory radio missing, but absolutely nothing else is missing. No one has made even one splice in wiring. 140K original miles.

New battery was sitting in bed. I've got it on charger now.

Door window rubbers/weather stripping is shot. Passenger side inside door lock is not working. No rust on cab supports. Doors don't sag.

Has stupid looking wing mirrors-needs stock mirrors. (OOOPPPS, I lied, stock mirrors are missing)

My plans for this truck is frame-off restow with street rod theme. Considering late model step side bed, and selling original bed. Upgrade to discs and lowering front/rear a few inches. Crate motor to only 300 HP and rebuild the tranny. No butchering except bed swap. Replacement wiring harness. Tilt steering swap. Custom grill and new chrome front bumper, chrome rear bumper or roll pan.

Once I get the new rubber stuff and strip it down, I'll give it to the body shop for full paint inside and out.

I paid $50.00 for mine but the body was VERY sad ,no reg, or box. On the upside all the glass was good in my 53.After welding in the floor and cab corners, I'll tell you ,I'd rather have paid $5,000.00 for a rust free project and used mine for parts.

Man, I DO understand! It is getting hard to find old stuff that ain't rusted out or butchered up.

To date I've been building on a Toyota 4x4 and considering a 5.0 engine swap for it, but when this thang feel in my lap, I abandoned the Toy and decided it was gonna be a parts hauler for this project.

Here is the engine bay.....Yuck!

It won't look like that for long, tho.

Oh, let me add there were cob webs and live Black Widow spiders living in the cab! Note the cob webs and pine straw under the hood. I gassed her good before I reached in to place her in neutral to winch her up on my trailer...No wasps, tho. Then I had to crawl in to apply the brakes as she rolled off the trailer into my carport. I had to yell at my 6 year old daughter to stay out of it until I am certain she is spider-free.

You guys be careful when fooling around with old iron that has been sitting abandoned. They attract nasty biting things that make you swell and sweat. I got bit once by a Brown Recluse spider...There is a big hole in my left calf to show for it. I was sick for weeks.

I had to air up three of the 4 tires to get this thing up on the trailer. The grass and weeds had grown up to window height. I didn't want to crawl in it, but had to to get it off the trailer.

Yep, probably the deal of the the year. I'd leave the yellow stripe (nothin wrong with a little style) and work that truck--good hauler for twenty years I imagine. Congrats.

I gotta get off my butt and get started on it.

I'm doing midnights all this next week, so maybe I can get something started.

I wonder if that paint job was done in the 80's? Seems very possible to me...

Great steel, over here I have been watching this "Beautiful" 2 tone 70-72 Chevy 4x4 sitting behind a gas station, of course there is also a 40's work truck sitting next to it. Hopefully I can get my Camo truck up and running and fixed up so i can sell it, then find out if the owner wants to sell it, and for how much.

Isnt it hard to walk away from the most beautiful well designed truck on earth?

Yodaddy, can ya do me a favor? when possible, please post an URL link to the phots rather than posting the images directly on Stovebolt. The server space will get clogged up with all the images taking up space.Somestimes it's necessary to post an image, but not in this case.
I'll thank you in advance for taking care of it.

Sorry about the pics. I'll do the linky thing from now on.

Yeah, that paint has to go! To make it worse, 3 of 4 tires have gone flat since I got it home last week. So now it's double ugly. The neighbors will hate me as long as it's sitting out and not inside the shop. I gotta clean out my shop before I do anything else.

Just wait till they hear the new engine once I get it in!
