For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 15 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 15 | I have a 46 2-ton Chevy truck and wondered if any of you have tried or know much about installing those bent 1 piece windshields instead of going back with the stock frame and seal? The price looks to be comparable especially since I'll have to replace everything. Glass, frame, seals and crank set up that opens the bottom out. At this point I'm not too sure if I even want the windhield to open.
Thanks for any info.

My want to check EBay under CAR,PARTS & Other's. Do" 46 Chevy" under search and look for... Door Glass RH & LH #4539514725. Toward the end 9 Days left! Or "smith hot rod glass".

It is one of the most talked about items on my truck at the shows. Mainly because it seems EVERYONE does what you are thinking about doing and you just don't see the original cranks anymore. Not to mention, there are only a few vehicles with this option in the first place. If you decide to stay original, I'll help you out on the info you need. I have the handcrank assembly but the shaft is stuck which shouldn't be much trouble. The only obstacle might be the gears which look a bit stripped. I do however have the stainless tape and it appears to be in good shape. I too like the look of the original windshield. I'm not looking to have a show truck just one I can drive around and enjoy now and then!
