Mine had rusted through on one side and the other side had about a 5 inch crack along the bottom of it, so I torched the rivets, popped the plates off and welded a pair of plates on to strengthen the frame. Now I'm sitting here wondering if I made more work for myself down the road. This is on a '54 3100.

Your axel tubes would hit these if you maxed out the springs and overload springs. If you dont plan to "load" it down you should be fine.
