Personally, I like to replace brake parts rather than rebuild, although I have rebuilt some later-model car calipers. If you do rebuild, make sure they are working properly - don't cut corners with anything that can affect your ability to stop or steer! | | | | | Joined: Jan 2000 Posts: 734 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2000 Posts: 734 | If you can afford it, it's best to buy new. Wheels cylinders are pretty cheap so I wouldn't rebuild one of those but I might rebuild a master cyl if it's in good condition and cost a ton for a new one.

They were in the next day too. Shop around.

Unless it is too rusty & corroded. It only takes a few minutes. You can buy a hone for less than 10$. If there is some pits toward the center it doesn,t hurt. The cups don,t ride in that area.

My brake lines were rusted thru and the rest of the parts like the springs had served there time. I got all the parts except the drums (I turned the drums) for just under $500. The lines I found out are 1/4" dia. and you can get them from Napa. They will cost a little more at Napa than if you get them from Eastwood. the rest of the parts I got from Jim Carter and Chevys of the 40's. It's too bad but you can't get everthing from one site.
