Well it happened yesterday right out of the blue, just like those stories you read and hear about but it never happens to you. My brother in-law calls me and says "Dude your not going to believe this". It’s a 58 or 59 Apache complete with all the emblems, if its not gone in a week its going to the crusher! I ask how much? He said $250. $200 for the truck and $50. for the tow. I went to take a look at it from over the fence and its just what I wanted, a flat bed dually. Didn’t get a close up because the yard its in was closed. But it hade the side and front emblems chrome grill, chrome bumper, all the glass blinkers lights and bezels. Yard guy which is his buddy said It ran. It had a descent bed with side stakes.

I will find out tomorrow if I get it, and give an up date if anyone wants to find out what happens next.
Could you guys pass this one up?

It’s a 36
I just came back from taking a look at it and the only visible things that are wrong with it was a cracked driver side window, the passenger ash tray is missing and a little rust on the fenders and the hood. The Bed is a very nice heavy duty professional built flat bed. Has a clean looking six cylinder in it that some one has taken care of. Oh it was missing the gas cap and the air cleaner. Should be getting it to my house tomorrow.

I will get picks soon. The doors were a little stiff when I opened them, they were solid, straight, no slop and no major rust was in the hinge area. What is the best method of lubricating them?

And hence the real reason that the truck went for so cheap..... IT SMELLS PERMANENTLY OF GARLIC (you know - Gilroy, CA - home of the Garlic festival)! grin grin

Hammer-

If the truck smells or the lack of an ashtray is too much to bear, let me know and I can help you with this problem. It sure sounds like a peach!

The heavenly sent of garlic just adds to the Value.

Since the gas cap was missing I took out the tank to inspect it and flush it out. No rust was present on the tank I think it was a replacement tank.

Well right now I have the gas tank out and I am debating weather or not I should coat it with Zero Rust. What do you guys think?

Here are the numbers from the block 3764476 and the head has thin number 3835913, Does anyone know what they mean?

I'm going to buy a battery this week to try to fire it up does any one know of a clever way I can make a temporary gas tank?

Passenger Ashtray? Maybe you're missing the heater controls.

Well after viewing you GMC fleet truck on your fine web site Cletis, I now know what that little rectangle panel with the Chevy emblem is in my glove box. It’s the radio block off plate. The plate is in mint condition but some one cut the dash.
