I notice a little grumbling from some of you about the posting rules here on Stovebolt.Take a moment to read the posting rules at the top of this page.Just in case your mouse is broken and can't scroll up,here it is; Welcome to the new general category forum for pre-'73 truck-related topics (that don't fit in any of the specific forums) only. Please, no flaming, advertising or anything else not directly related to the care, restoration, preservation or use of old GM trucks!
Like I've said before,I loosened up those rules some after a few guys convinced me a limited amount of small talk is good for the forums, and I agree.
The bad part is ,the decision of what's appropiate is pretty much my decision, subject to my limited attention span and scatter brained thoughts.
If you're concerned I may lock a post, just don't post the story ,it's that simple.
If the freedom to make your own decision on what's appropiate and when to post it is a problem,we all can go back to the strict rules as posted above if that makes it easier for you.
I think this place is pretty good the way it is,mostly trucks,some non controversial off topic stuff.
Enjoy your Thanksgiving with family and friends.

I once cooked fish on the intake of my old '63 Chevy truck. Wrapped it up in foil, drove about a half-hour, and it turned out pretty good!

That'd probably make Peg the XO (Executive Officer). Er, on second thought, perhaps Admiral is more fitting.

My dad talks about doing that. The old sixes and straight eights with the big exhaust manifold sticking straight out worked real well for that. He liked to throw a bunch of vegetables and some hamburger in a tin foil. When I was a kid he used to complain that cars are not made like that, so he had to cook them in the oven. Called 'em "hobo dinners".

I've done that manifold cooking - on the six in my International panel when camping cross country - works great! there's even a cookbook for it that gives driving distances for cooking time - here\'s some receipes from it

Peggy is "She Who Must Be Obeyed." An old boss of mine (LtGen Jefferson Davis Howell) always referred to Mrs. Howell that way and it sort of stuck to Peggy as well.

Never did the cooking thing tho that does sound pretty cool. Many times tho we would put beer in the front of a car winter time and keep it cold or get it colder.

Your old boss snagged the term "She who must be obeyed" from the book and TV series "Rumpole of the Bailey". Rumpole always used that term to refer to his wife. I know; I use it too!
