I decided to let one of my flock leave the nest, a 63 chevy shortbed stepside. So I put an add in the local rag. I listed the bare facts and sat back to wait for the suckers, I mean customers. The truck isn't really that bad but the way people looked after they looked at it you would think I was trying to steal them blind. :rolleyes: This truck has been outside most of its life and it shows. It is how ever in better shape than some I've seen driving down the road. Looks like I'm stuck with her until I can fix some of defects that are keeping the truck off the road.

some folks don't understand how good a shape something is in... and how much work and $$ theyd' have to spend to make one in worse shape reach the same level... even if your's is just a solid driver.

6T2Burb, the fastest way to get rid of something that you no longer want or need, is to place a fair price on it and the next thing to do is to have it clean and serviced. By serviced I mean, change the oil, fill the air in the tires, remove the beer cans from behind the back seat , wash down the engine at the local car wash, wash the windows and fix the simple things. I have helped several people sell their cars and trucks after they unsuccessfully tried to sell them themselves. It's pretty simple, no one wants to buy an overpriced, dirty and rundown truck. That's not to say yours is in this catagory, but sometimes just the little things can turn a potential buyer into a lookie loo. If they are interested enough to contact you, they may be interested enough to purchase it if it feels right. Good luck, I see the future in the box burbs, there is more and more interest in the swap meets and shows.

There is a buyer for everything, regardless of condition, age, or appearance.

How you list an item in the paper can make a huge difference in the sorts of people who look at it.

If it's a fixer upper, say that in the ad. If it needs work, say that in the ad.

If I read an ad that said, "63 Chevy Stepside, runs good, $XXXX" i'd expect to see a truck that I could hop in and drive home. If I got to the place and found a non-road ready rusting hulk, i'd be [censored] you wasted my time.

One mans's junk indeed ...
A guy I work with, Darren, lives up a dead end road with a good neighbor who shares road maintenance with him. Generally they help each other out on all the things that farm country brings.
The neighbor was telling him that his uncle in Montana had a beautiful '50s Cub tractor that he was giving away. Darren suggested that they fire up his 2ton Chev and go get it. They got the OK from their wives and took off early one Saturday, loaded it up, and were back home late Sunday night. Darren's wife took a look next morning, and her utterance has become their new catchphrase for all situations Male v. Female.
She looked at that beauty and said,
"You went to Montana for THAT?"

...to which he responded, "not THAT but that."
