My 51 1/2 ton is missing the entire emergency brake assembly from the cab and I want to correct that by installing an original mechanism. The parts are on the way but I'll be hanged if I can find any pictures or information on how they're supposed to install.

The only thing remaining in the cab are the two brackets that hold the release handle, so if anyone has any pictures of how the pedal is supposed to install I'd greatly appreciate seeing them.

Actually *any* help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Hope these will help ya. The shaft goes through the cab doubler on the right side of the picture or the driver side and there is a washer and cotter pin that retains it. On the left side you can see the clevis for the rod that goes back to the cross shaft and the single bracket that holds that side up.
The whole assembly with all of the parts for the parking brake is laid out after restoration in one of the pictures.

The original 48-52 Shop manual shows some details but the best I found other than pictures from others is in the Factory Assembly manual for 48-54 that I have. I don't have a scanner so I can't send you a copy of mine.

Denny, the photos are a great help. Now I have to get up under there and see how much of those brackets are still there.

Parking brake drawing from the 47-55 Factory Assembly Manual.

Wow, tclederman... that's a very kind gesture. That should answer all my questions.

I just found that reprints of that manual are available... I'm ordering one tomorrow. I've only owned my truck for a week and there's so much to learn... but it's an obsession already and I'm having fun.

In regard to the "47-55" assembly manual that is sold, recognize when going in that it is really a '54 assembly manual. Most things are the same, but there are real differences. It is invaluable when working on these trucks, but if they wanted to use a single year for the reproduction, '54 was probably not the best year to use. (Unless you own a '54) Just my $.02

I noticed that the drawings are all dated '53 but in the case of my parking brake (now that I have the parts) it's pretty close, if not completely accurate.
