Any differences, chevy or gmc?

Regarding Art Deco interior colors,

I think the GMCs were silver brown metalic or something like that and the Chevs were the hammered brown.

I have asked the same question in the past but no one had an answer. My Chev is(was) the silver brown metalic. Not sure why, but it was. For now, I went with a light gray but if I ever do a full resto job, I sure liked the look of the original.

The only thing I have found which states the color is Jim Carter's Catalogue. I am wondering how they came up with that. Interesting to here your 46 was the silver brown metallic color

bigbad - You can see some examples of the Jim Carter Hammertone paint at My '41 Link below.

The radio that I purchased had the original paint on it and although it was a bit darker than the Carter paint it was hammertone with the fisheye effect. I don't recall if it was Carter or not but somewhere I saw that the radio and heater were originally painted crinkle brown. My radio doesn't support that theory.

As you may know I am working on a 40 gmc. There are lots of similarities and differences. The 41-46 NOS GMC super deluxe heater I purchased off of ebay was not krinkle, or hammered finish. It matched up closest to "Dark Bronze Metallic" Rustoleum rattle can.

The interior of my truck had been brushed and painted by a previous owner. There is little evidence left to suggest the original colors. One part of the interior that was not taken down to bare metal is the metal seat bottom surround. Under all the primer it is painted Brewster Green... the same color I have found on the fire wall, and the underside of the hood.

One other place you may find the remnants of the original color is underneath the anti-rattle material in the door cross member.
