Hello- I'm looking to replace my seat upholstery and door panels with the brown "Spanish Grain" kits found on Jim Carter's. Before I spend the money, I was really hoping someone could post up a picture for me (from what I can tell Carter's has one small picture of a maroon door panel online, but not the whole set together). There has been some recent discussion about seat upholstery and door panels, so I'm hoping someone out there might have some pictures. Thanks.

Thanks for the picture AD_Pickup! From what I can see it looks pretty nice. Are you happy with the overall fit, quality, and appearance? How did it match the door panels? Thanks again.

gjberche, the overall fit has to do with how well the matting/cushing was prepped before installing the cover. I used .040 aluminum for my door panels and matched the material on the armrest for the panels, headliner and sunvisors. Here are some pics of my interior

AD_Pickup, what color (and kind) of paint is that in the pictures? Its close to the same color original in my '55 first series.

SCBoy'55, the exterior is "Ocean Green", the interior is "Sheen Gray Metallic"... Dupont.

Not real clear what the "Spanish Grain" refers to. was it a heavier fabric? was the grain more pronounced? Was it only available for the GMC or an option for the Chevy? Was it an option for the AD trucks, specifically 1950, 3604?

Denny- I'm not an expert, but I think "Spanish Grain" refers just to the vinyl's texture... and I think you are correct, the grain is significantly pronounced. My '54 3104 has this brown grain textured vinyl on it--but it is very beat up and underneath ripped ugly blue vinyl (see here ), which is why I want to re-upholster everything.

I did find this definition on the web, so take it for what it is worth: "Spanish Grain -­ Finish produced by embossing on fancy or upholstery leather a modified natural grain which formerly was produced by drawing or striking a hide or a skin in a strong tan liquor to shrink the grain, the result being to form a particular pattern on the surface, owing to unequal shrinking of different portions."

I used this heavy vinyl on my interior and my wife used some of it to cover the cardboard door panels which show up in the photo below.
