The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Interiors Sound deading revisted

Home Depot and Lowe's in my area don't carry anything like "peel-n-seal" or the others. Their web sites won't bring them up. I live where a 1/4" of snow is considered the "big snow" of that year. OK, now what do I do? Tar is not an option. Surely someone out there works in an area where a product that has sound deading and heat transfer blocking capabilities is available. If I have to buy "Dynamat" I won't be able to afford to put go juice in my ride. Help!

My Lowes didn't have it either. I talked to the manager and he ordered it for me thru Lowes. In fact I ordered it in a 3' wide roll.

As I mentioned before....most aluminum fabricators...(screen rooms, car ports) sell the rolled "tape" 3" wide, that is used to seal the seams between 5' wide insulated aluminum roof panels. I've used it throughout my truck...it's easy to use small pieces to do the inside of the doors. Also used it overhead on the roof...no sagging. It has a white vinyl skin, sells for $13.00 a roll and it takes 2-1/2 rolls to do all the cab and door surfaces. The 12" stuff I got from our Home Depot was a pain to apply and smelled like tar.

BTW...it also works...no twang when you close the doors. Hope this helps.

it does not take much to kill the tin sound
but some think that the single or double sided heavy foiled outer w/ jute material inside is true sound deadening material, that helps kill the tin sound and acts as insulation, products like Dynamat kill sound or that tin noise but do nothing for insulation.
some of the big box store roofing supply products give off a chemical when it gets hot inside the cab during summer.
as far as the tin foil tape go to a heating and A/C company. it's called furness tape used in that industry. you may find a do it ur-self type heat/ AC company and can buy it that way.
