I have a 57 stepside with a 235 that is going to be replaced soon with a 283, out of a 63 Impala. I want to stay with the original starter and leave the kick start set up on the floor. My question is will that fly wheel work? If not what flywheel do I need (265) Can I use the one off my 235? Any help would be appreciated as the truck has only been with me a year, but I love it.

Pretty sure the flywheels won't interchange.
You might be able to use the starter switch from the 235 and adapt the mechanical linkage to the 283 starter though.
Would actually be pretty cool set up that way. Never occured to me to try that when I put a 350 in my '49 many years ago. I just put a starter button from NAPA under the dash!

You'll have to use a SBC flywheel with whatever starter you find. You may be able to put an electric switch for the starter on the floor to mimic the original linkage.
Also, the 235 bellhousing won't bolt to a V8, so you'll have to change bellhousings & transmissions.
