Was putting in the one piece cardboard headliner in my 41, what a job that was. Wetted it with water and amonia and I still creased it.
Any one have good results with the one piece fiberglass, cause that is my next option........

Let me know how the fiberglass headliner works. Did you have trouble aligning the header panel?Would love to see your truck.

I'm about to try a fiberglass headliner in my 41...my initial look wasn't to positive. I have a 46 parts truck and its headliner setup looks different than the 41..anybody have any info or pics of 41 headliner vs 46?

The trucks up through '41 used a 1 piece healdiner. "42 to '46 used a two piece.
The only diiferance I can tell is with the center support. On the one piece it is "hidden" under the headliner amd all u see is the 3 rubber washers. On a 2 piece, the center support is 2 pieces and is visible as the 2 pieces of the headliner join there,
Still waiting for the fiberglass piece to show up.
The manufacturer e mailed me and told me the piece had a defect in it when they removed it from the mold and would be making me another one

I am trying to put in a one piece fiberglass,
{46 1/2 ton} and having a hard time.Its been in
and out three times. It is not quite long enough from front to back.As i remenber it was made for 47 to 54 but was supposed to fit the 46 with a little effort. Now waiting for the weather to warm up for the 4th try.It may be a week or more.

Just installed my one piece fiberlass headliner in my '41. I am very pleased. Just minor triming was needed on the rear edge, which I did with sciccors and a utility knife. The company I bought it from is ENGLANDER AUTOMOTIVE, located at 4545 Independence Hwy, Independence, Oregon 97361. Ph# 503-838-2853. I will try to post pics here soon

42chevy -- Did you ever get those pics of your headliner installation? I just finished making a total mess out of my '41 one piece. Not a good afternoon.

We installed an ABS one piece liner in our 54 really worked out nice and no cutting at all took a couple of hours with insulation and all...T/C Steve

Don...Sorry... I do not own a digital camera....I'm still trying to figure out my Kodak 125...! But the install was way easy with the ABS as all you do is spray a bit of adhesive on the insulation and with the liner centered you and your helper push up. Mine was easy do to as the cab windlace was out. I have replaced the windlace since and it covered the edges perfectly...I did not have to paint the head liner as it is black the same color as the insides of our truck....we have never done a 2 piece....could a one piece ABS work....if I lived a bit closer I could give you a hand....T/C Steve

I've thought about the fiberglass one myself. But here lately I've been toying round with the idea of making my own out of some sort of uphoulstry material. I got the idea from looking at the liner in other late model vehicles which appear to be a fabric covered foam. I think that by making a template and cutting it out from the material of my choice it should simply glue in. That way I've not only made a liner, but insulated it as well.

After reading the above postings and others I'm now at the point of considering either fiberglass or ABS. Any comments concerning the pros and cons of either, other than the cost? I understand that ABS can be shaped using heat so if it comes pre-molded a little heat gun application might just help.

That's what I'm thinking...Goin fill in the void and use the foam back headliner.....Haven't found the right color as of yet

I have a one piece brown fiberglass headliner in my '42...went in relatively easily..minor trimming. Looks great I'll send pics if anybody's interested.

Dan, that's what I plan on doing. By filling in the void & laying the headliner on top I think it will look pretty good.

Thanks down2sea for your facilitation...I do have a major correction of fact, however, re: my headliner. I checked my receipts and the headliner is in fact ABS (not fiberglass) and I bought it from Chevys of the 40s two years ago.
